One day, back in 2011, Chris Parrish received a text message from a good friend inviting him to a free community workout at a local CrossFit gym. He walked into the gym, saw all the weights and the clock on the wall, and had one of the most fun exercise experiences of his life! He signed up as a member that week and began regularly attending 5:30am classes.
While being a full time teacher for Frisco ISD, he was dedicated to his early morning
WODs and, over time, gained lifting strength and began to master the foundational movements, techniques and gymnastics that CrossFit teaches. The skills he learned at the box transitioned easily into the coaching world. In August 2014, Chris retired from teaching to pursue his passions in health and fitness. He gained his Level 1 CrossFit Certified Trainer title in January 2015 and began coaching at Black Iron CrossFit in August.
Chris views his coaching roles as encourager, motivator and teacher. He loves helping others with skill development, nutrition, building healthy habits, strength training and pushing past limits.
He helped launch the Black Iron Kids program in summer 2016, and his coaching skills blended perfectly with a joy of working with children.
Chris lives in Frisco, TX with his beautiful wife, Linsey, and 3 amazing kids: Gage, Jillian and Austin. He has coached his two sons in soccer for over 4 years. He is active in his church, community and the box. His motto is: “People won’t care about how much you know, until they know how much you care.”
